Sweep Picking Lesson

And betcha can’t play this at the end. A lot of you are asking about how I play my sweeps cleanly. I’ve recieved questions such as “Do you mute with your thumb, or your palm?” So I figured I could answer all of your answers in this brief video. NOTE: I apologize for my rambling. I recorded this at 7:30 AM so I’m not exactly warmed up and in the greatest mind set to make a video.

I’m pretty sure the best way is to thumb mute.
Look at Tom Hess, Mike Phillippov, and Zack Uidl..

Rusty cooley and yngwie malmsteen and Michael Romeo use there palms, so I don’t see how that’s a valid argument.

I’ve seen cleaner players than Batio. I don’t know how he does it

No you just have to be less close minded about guitarists. Micheal Romeo is cleaner, Paul Gilbert is cleaner and much more creative of a player than Batio, to name a few

    Best guitar players IMO:
    Michael angelo batio
    Steve Vai
    Herman Li
    Sam totman
    Yngwie malmstee

ye i know that you may not like about Herman and Sam but they were the 1st “Shredder” guitarists that i heard and it was on 2005.

    I’d agree with zakkrandydimshrd.

Paul Gilbert is by far the cleanest shredder I’ve heard and can pick up speeds that MAB can without even sweeping.

It sounds like you’ve only listened to the most mainstream shredders. Dig deeper dude. :)

He likes to play tastefully, so doesn’t just blast out a million notes a second. But if you just simply type into the youtube search bar “Paul Gilbert Lesson”, you’ll see.

The best way is the way that feels the most comfortable to the player.
