Where Can I Learn to Sweep Pick Better? Like Practice? and What Should I Do for Down Tuning?

Okay, so I just listened to the song Crush My Battle Opponent’s Balls by Dethklok, and it sounds easy IF I knew how to sweep pick, which I don’t. And also I tuned down to baritone guitar tuning for an Amon Amarth song, which sounded really well on my guitar. But when I down tune, the E chord sounds gross and not right. Barre chords sound good though.

Details:
B.C. Rich Warlock
Stock Pickups
Ernie Ball Heavy Strings
Currently tuned Standard
Tuned to B E A D F# B for Amon Amarth song, and sounded terrible E chord.

…Also, please answer my other question it’s just as if not more important!

i been playing guitar for 4 years now an a friend of mine has been playing for 2 an he is much better then i am. believe it or not he learned everything he needed to know on youtube. its crazy but people post videos of alot of outrageous things. you can probably find your sweeps there.. for the tuning.. if you start from standard tuning, drop D the low E chord an tune all your strings to that, then drop D the low E chord again an i think thats drop C? thats worked for me in alot of metal songs. just a suggestion hope that helps!

it took me about a year to get sweeps down. it ALL depends on how much you practice. If you play a few hours each day you’ll have no problem getting it down in a few months.

How i learned: go to youtube and just learn different sweeping techniques. Start VERY slow and as you keep doing it you’ll see how you start to increase speed.

Just remember, start slow. it’s better to hit every note slow than for it to sound clashing and really fast. After time, you’ll get the speed up :D

Get a very basic 3 string pattern
Get a metronome, and set it as low (60 bpm say)
Start of really slow. Make sure you stay in time
If you can do it perfect 20 times, increase the speed a tiny bit (no more then 5)
Keep doing this, you will be sweeping in no time

There no point in rushing this. You will just end up sounding sloppy.
